SAVE THE DATE: 2019 Festival – MARCH 23rd 10am-10pm Balnarring Beach Robertsons Park

Plans are well underway for the 2019 festival. Each meeting a new community member arrives to offer their skills and assistance. We currently have 33 committee members each who have selected which area of the festival they would like to be involved in. We have people involved from across the Peninsula helping to shape next year’s festival. If you would like to be involved please come along to the next meeting

(18th September 7pm at the Balnarring Pre-school) or call us on 59835803 or contact us via email womindjekabalnarringngargee@gmail.com.

Several members of the committee went a site walk in September deciding on the lay out and logistics or catering for increased participants, stall holders, entertainment and cultural workshops.

We have begun to book in musicians and workshops – see the face book page for progressive announcements. A website is currently being created which will have details of the festival, coming events, merchandise available and when it is finalised the program.

We held our first led up event, a screening of the film Song Keepers. It was so exciting to see new faces at this event and hear the excitement grow about the festival. Thanks to all who attended. Thankyou to Montalto Vineyard for the donation of wine.

We aim to have a led up event in November and then in March on International Women’s day. (place this date on your calendars) We will have First Peoples women sharing their stories and musical entertainment as we share a dinner together.

It was noted the lack of teenagers and young people at this years festival so we are planning an event at the skate park to involve this age group and hopefully draw them to the festival in March. If you would like to be part of planning this event please let us know.

And we are hoping to introduce Bundjil’s Nest to other schools inviting them to be part of the festival – details are still being developed on how this will occur.

So much exciting things to be looking forward to. Thankyou to all who are sharing their passion and skills to create this event for the Mornington Peninsula.
